Walking in my Boots

Whether it is the perfect red high heels to go with your favorite party dress or your shiny black shoes you wore with your tuxedo to your senior prom, you need to wear the right shoes for the right occasion. My favorite pair of shoes, which I wear most of the time, helps me get down and dirty when I need to. My cowboy boots are one of a kind.

I want to inform people that cowboy boots are not just a fashion trend. I do think they would look cute with the perfect outfit but they serve other purposes. They have the right pressure points in the sole to give you the perfect foot position for a good ride and are comfortable enough to wear everyday.

My boots, originally a dark chestnut color with black rubber soles, are now stained with shur-hoof (a tar used for horses’ hooves), paint, horse manure, and water marks. The boots come up about two inches past my ankle. They lace up on the front with striped black and brown laces like tennis shoes and are tied with a double knot to avoid them coming loose. They are broken in to fit my foot after four years of wear and tear.

I wrote about my boots because every time I go to the farm, I have them on. I wear them when I am cleaning the stalls, walking in the field, and when I am in the saddle riding in the arena.

The boots are designed for work around the farm because they provide a steel toe to prevent injuries. With horses weighing between 700 to 1500 pounds, this feature comes in handy. There have been numerous times when a horse has stepped on my foot and the only thing that kept my foot from being broken was the boot.

Horses are a part of my everyday life and seeing my muddy boots sitting next to the dresser makes me look forward to going to the farm tomorrow. The fit of my boots and the work I do at the farm takes away my everyday stress. It gives me a chance to break away from life to spend time at a place and with animals that mean a lot to me.

Getting more mud from the farm on my boots on the weekend is just like having two tickets for Friday night for the best concert of the year. It is something that takes me out of the reality of life and gives me a chance to be who I want to be and relax and let off the stress.

Everyone needs that something to keep them motivated. If your life is just school and home, you’re not going to have that much fun. But when you have a hobby that you can look forward to, it keeps you going. It is so important to have that outlet for all your built up problems. I am reminded of my outlet by my boots. What’s yours?

I like your first sentence, because it was the exact opposite of what you were writing about. And how it transition into your personal story. Good Job!!

Love the description of the horrors of being a barn boot! lol, mine look pretty much how yours sound, except it has been awhile so the mud in worn off… But they are still all worn down.
Thank you for asking. My outlet is anime… And once I can play again, SOCCER!! I would go back to horses but… Alergies suck *pouts*. My helmet, half-chaps, and boots are getting rusty!!! T_T

i think you need some new boots.. 4 years?? i worked at a shoe store and maybe cowboy boots would last that long but workboots should be replaced more often, might i ask what brand? i would guess timberland lol

Maybe try and not say “My Goal” and work around the phrase. The number 2 is generally written out, although in a blog it isnt always MLA approved. It should be broken in after four years instead of broke in after four years.

I loved the way you started and ended your blog. You kept me entertained all the way through. Although, talking about boots was somewhat weird to me your blog made me think about what hobbies I do besides work and school. You talked about a topic I didn’t think you can talk about and you described the boots to a tee. I could imagine what they look like. You talked about your boots, your horses, and how your boots related to your horses. It was wonderful. I don’t think you need to change anything you’re a good writer.

This blog was appealing. The first sentence was the complete opposite of the passage that lays a head.It is not a blog I would read on a daily basis, but it has some zeal to it. You talk about your boots as if it was a person, but it was a good blog over all.
